Mission 2: By Blue Night hunter the Crazed
You know what, I was one of those ones who thought it was Queen Silth and her children, the problem was I was RIGHT. She was one of those "good and fair rulers" And us being vermin and all just don't do that, So we stormed the castle, and killed or took hostage of everyone inside. Queen Silth was killed by Mraso himself and so were her children; before she was killed she swore that she would return one day and seek revenge on everyone who had hurt her family. That basically meant Mraso and all his right hand men. Well she returned and now it's up to me to get rid of her. I have heard the moanings just like everyone else so I knew that was the place to start because that was where the hauntings were. So I crept up to the attic and opened the door and what did I see but two rats making all the noise. They were so involved in what they were doing that they didn't see me; So I went back outside and downstairs to report them to a higher authority, and was instructed to take howler, a fox up there to catch them and bring them back so that he could tell Mraso what happened. Well Howler and I crept back up to the attic, and back inside, right behind the rats and tackled them while Howler tied them up. We took the two back down and the general dude we reported them to took us in to see Mraso who had them put to work building an entire ship on their own and then sailing it to another fort and taking prisoners and coming back.
Mission 8: By Riffle Quickeyes
Riffle wanders the building that has been burned slowly and with much thought. Thinking that perhaps she could find some sort of clue that could help her in her quest for finding the arsonist of the building. Since the roof has been burned away, the sun shines onto the ground and debris. Spying a glint, Riffle bounds over and picks up a piece of metal. On the back it has some sort of inscription. Unable to decipher the strange language on the back of the piece of metal, she puts it into her pocket and promptly forgets about it. She searches the burnt out shell a bit more but her heart is not in it. So she instead returns to the barracks to sleep on all her thoughts but tonight sleep does not come easily. Instead at midnight by the light of torches in the hallways she once again rises to search. Almost pushed to the point of exhaustion, Riffle finds herself in a section of the castle she has never before explored. Much to her surprise, she finds another piece of metal with an inscription. She pulls out the other piece of metal out of her pocket and finds that they fit together. Looking at the inscription I see that I only need about 2 more lines to complete it but the language is still so strange that she wonders if she had all of it, would she be able to read it? Stranger and stranger. She goes to bed this time and sleep comes easily. The next morning she rises early and sets out on her quest. Going to see Mraso sounds like a good idea to her and so she does so. Going to his chamber she knocks on the door and asks if she can come in. She is granted entry. “Mraso, I was wondering if anybeasts have joined the Castle recently who said they have come from far away or did not say where they were from.” He gives her a quizzical look. She explains further “See, I was investigating the burning and I found two pieces of metal that I thought could have been broken off of a necklace or medallion.” Riffle shows the pieces. “Anyway, has anybeast joined recently that their background was suspicious?” He turns slowly obviously thinking. Finally he replies, “Actually, there was an ermine that joined last week. He did not say where he was from but he had an accent. Now that I think about it, I remember I could not place the accent and figured he was from someplace exotic. What was his name? Yes I remember, Toxer the Poisoner.” Riffle thanks him quickly and runs out and back to the barracks. Bursting in the door she yells at the top of her lung, not caring that everybeast stared at her funny. “TOXER THE POISONER, I HAVE YOUR MEDALLION!!!” Everybeast turns when a sound from the back betrays Toxer before he can come forward. Rushing forward, Riffle grabs him and drags him out the door. Now that he is out in the courtyard, Riffle can use her power. Tying his paws securely behind his back, she brings two old bed frames that were long ago discarded. Assembling the bed frames around Toxer, Riffle stares hard at the bed frames. All the beasts wonder what the heck she is doing when she mutters a few words under her breath. Suddenly, the bed frames start smoking then burst into flames! Toxer is quickly consumed by the flames and is no longer a threat to Castle Marl. He was disposed of the same way he tried to destroy the Castle.
Mission 1: By Bloodeyes the Butcher
Bloodeyes the Butcher had just laid down to sleep when a sharp
rapping came to his door. The Marlfox hopped off of his bunk and opened the
door, a rat stood at attention there.
"Sorry to wake you, sir, but High King Mraso has asked me to deliver this
message for him." With that the rat produced a small bark scroll.
Bloodeyes beckoned the rat away and went back into his chambers.
He unrolled the scroll and read the following message:
Greetings my friend,
I am sorry for the late disturbance, but I assure you that it is necessary.
Another beast has fallen prey to this so called, "Ghost" the army is
talking about. His body lays untouched on the shoreline. Report there and try to
capture this Ghost before a panic starts on my Island.
High King Mraso the Assassin
Bloodeyes the Butcher quickly read the message. He himself did not believe in
ghosts, so he was not afraid to go out hunting for this one. He made his way
over to his table, laying on the table was a heavily decorated case.
He took a key from around his neck and opened the box. Inside laid his recently
finished Marlfox Axe... he decided tonight would be the first time to use it.
*******
He crept silently out across the shores of The Island towards where the corpse
of the rat had been discovered, he quickly reached it.
The Marlfox turned the rat over with the tip of his boot, there were no marks on
the beast, but his face looked as if he had been frightened to death!
He suddenly heard a low moan from around a hill, he spun around and whipped out
his Marlfox Axe. Bloodeyes stood brandishing it as he called out: "Show
yerself, if you're not afraid of this beast!"
A hulking figure appeared on the horizon, it was completely covered in a
billowing robe, it's eyes glow bright green from beneath the hood as it extended
a paw towards The Butcher and cried in a deep, low voice, "Death comes to
those who wander these shores when the moon is high!"
Bloodeyes the Butcher stood defiant waving his axe, "I'll take that chance,
spectre, come on down and let me kick yer tail!"
The hulk charged down toward him with a low moan of rage, it's paw went to it's
belt and the thing drew a huge sword!
Bloodeyes remembered King Mraso's orders to capture the beats, so he dodged
aside and as the lumbering ghost charged past, stepped on the end of it's cloak.
The robe fell away to reveal a large, completely black, badger. With a howl of
rage it swung it's sword. Bloodeyes ducked, but the sword left a shallow cut in
the side of his head.
The Marlfox shook blood out of his eyes and brought out his whip, the badger
swung down again but missed, lodging his sword blade into firm earth from the
ferocity of the blow.
Bloodeyes swung the whip so it wrapped around the badger's neck, he pulled down,
overbalancing the vastly larger beast. It came toppling down and hit the rocky
ground hard, the Marlfox's axe was at it's throat in an instant.
"Slay away, fox!" The badger roared completely unafraid.
"No, I'll bring you back to my master so you can live a life of humiliation
and disgrace!"
Bloodeyes the Butcher kept the axe at the badger's throat while blowing a bone
whistle with the other, in a trice a score of armed vermin appeared over the
hill and helped chain up the great beast.
An hour later Bloodeyes the Butcher was asleep.
Mission #10 by Blue Night Hunter the Crazed
Okay, I was patrolling the island, when I heard horrible screams, It sounded like it was coming from the Castle, So I raced inside to see what was happening, and saw a treasury guard lying on the floor about to die. and another kneeling by him. Just trying to ease his pain. I asked the dying one what happened, and he blabbered on about some horrible glowing beast that was floating at least six, maybe 7 feet off the ground. I thought that he had ingested some bad food, but I had no chance to ask him because he had died soon after describing the beast. The other rat had no idea what happened, because he was going to the bathroom when this all happened, so he couldn't say anything. but he did say that there was some money missing from the treasury. I listened with horror as I slowly realized what they were describing, it was one of the islands many ghosts. no one could see this one without dying a horrible death. So I presented this problem to the commanding General and he recommended that we chop off it's head like they did to that Medusa beast. So, I polished my shield, sharpened my sword, and proceeded to find the beast and using just my shield to look at it, chop off it's head. Well, we had a terrible fight, but finally I wore it out, and chopped off it's head. then, carried it back as a trophy for the king. The only thing was that we have to keep the head in the bag unless we wanna kill someone.
Mission 6: by Riffle Quickeyes
After killing the weasel that had been about to kill her, Riffle quickly dashes to the window to see neat rows of about 4 score beasts. Muttering curses under her breath, she springs out of her room, slaying another rat outside her door. Dashing down the stairs, Riffle runs to Mraso’s room to make sure he is all right. Hearing voices inside his chamber, she stops short and listens. Discerning 3 separate voices from the one she knows so well, she puts two daggers in one paw and one ready to throw in the other. Busting in the door, she throws the one dagger at the first foe she sees. Quickly throwing one of the other daggers, she slays two Marl Foxes before she has been in the room a minute. The third jumps out at her and grabs her paw with her dagger in it. Thinking quickly, Riffle twists around and bites him.
With her attacker screaming in pain she thrusts the remaining dagger into his belly and slides it all the way up to his throat. Seeing the mess his guts make on the floor, Riffle yells a quick explanation and apology to Mraso. "Look outside. Many beasts. We’ve been invaded. Sorry ‘bout the mess. Clean it up later!" Dashing out of the room, she runs to the barracks to awaken the rest of the beasts. Soon after they are all ready and waiting, she runs out of the room to find Mraso only to run smack dab into him! Apologizing, she says, "The other beasts are awake and ready to fight."
He nods and she gives the signal. Everybeast marches out of the barracks and to where the other horde is waiting. At a signal from Mraso, everybeast charges and archers send arrows flying over the heads of the charging beasts to find their marks amongst the foebeasts. Riffle gives a screeching call and the magpies swoop down to pick up foebeasts and drop them. Riffle shuts her eyes and concentrates. All of a sudden, the foebeasts bows and arrows burn, scorching their paws.
Riffle smiles knowingly and shouts that she is going down to fight. Rushing to the front line, she takes out a rat with a dagger. Once there, she draws her battle-ax and goes through a set of sweeping attacks that nobeast can counter. With them, she takes out about 5 foxes, 7 ferrets and 3 weasels. By now the hordebeasts of Castle Marl are winning so Mraso yells for the fighting to cease. He says this,
"I do not know who you are but you have attacked us in the middle of the night with no warning. We have retaliated to the point of beating you. If you leave now, no more beasts will be killed. If you insist on fighting, we must slay you all." Without a word, all the foebeasts silently slink off to where ever they came from. And we have never heard tell of them again.
Mission 5: By Riffle Quickeyes
Riffle runs to the shore and looks at the oncoming ships. Mentally calculating how many beasts will be on each ship, she realizes that they will never be able to fight them. Closing her eyes, she thinks of something her old mum used to say, "Cut off the head and the whole beast will die" Of course, Riffle thinks, kill the leader. Running to the barracks she stops to write a note and post it on a message board. This is what it says:
I need the best spy/assassin on the island. If you think you fit the bill, come see Riffle Quickeyes.
After spending a few hours studying fighting techniques, the knock comes on her door that she figured would eventually come. "Come in" she yells. A lilth brown rat slides in. "You need an assassin? Here be Slitpaw." Riffle looks the small rat over. "Can you work as a spy too?" She asks. "Of course. Slitpaw can do anything you want him too." Riffle breaks into a smile and grabs the assassins paw, "You got yourself a job!" She quickly explains her problem and tells him the part he will play. He is to a small rat who has been marooned on the island and been trying to stay out of the citizens of Marl’s way. He is to be more than happy to see the vermin destroyed. Slitpaw acts like it is a routine deal and sets out on his way at about midnight that night. He is sent by boat to the ships. Once there he finds out that the hordes leader is a fearsome badger named Challenger. In the dead of night the next night, when he has been accepted as one of their own, Slitpaw finds his way to Challenger’s cell and slits his throat with a dagger Riffle gave him. The dagger, a silver one with an ornate handle with a dragon on it and the emblem, Riffle Quickeyes: Castle Marl, was left in Challenger’s cell so that they knew who did it. Then Slitpaw bailed. His part was done. The goodbeasts, now enraged by Challenger’s death, send out a challenge to Riffle. She accepts. She comes to the top of the castle in a gray tunic, pants and cloak that closely match the stones of the castle. Responding to the challenge, she yells, "Here I stand, Riffle Quickeyes. What is it that you desire of me?" Before they have a chance to answer, she does her little thing that the members of Castle Marl know so well and all of the ships explode, killing most all of the goodbeasts. The pike kills the remaining goodbeasts. And that was the last Salamandastron tried to attack Castle Marl.
Mission 3: By Blue Night Hunter the Crazed
It happened many times before I got assigned to this wonderful job. I decided to learn about this horrible beast before I went out to capture it, so I headed to the library . ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Perette was scared, he had heard the stories about the beasts, but he had to get his sword back, the only way to do this ws to steal it back. So he crept along, but he heard a crunch, and he whipped around, but saw nothing. He walked a little faster. Perette could swear he felt something watching him, e heard another crunch and he whipped around and saw a great big pear of eyes, black and glittering with a certain evil staring him right in the eye. He wanted to scream so badly, but nothing came out. He tried to run, but he was trapped under the hypnotic glare of this beast. That was the last thing that Perette ever saw, as the beast clawed out his eyes, then ate him alive. ``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` While I was at the library I ran across a little article telling me all I needed to know about this beast, it was a disease called humanopteracoleosisternamina meaning that this disease will affect one animal, and it's first victim, but these two have to kill creatures of their own kind to stay alive, or they will perish. They had to eat 20 before the next full moon. I knew that the beasts were killing badgers and otters, so I knew what the beasts were, and then I realized that the next full moon was tomorrow night, and the creatures had killed 5 beasts each. I went to the castle and explained my problem to the higher ranking beasts, then explained that they should have all beasts locked inside and the castle sealed off. no one comes in, nothing comes in, no one leaves, nothing leaves. They listened, and everyone was locked in for the next 2 days. After words we all utilized a search party to find the beasts, and we found 2 of our closest friends Cretin the badger and Fiche the otter dead, lying there like they were trying to eat themselves.
